Sombrero´s n Tequila - Mexico City 24/05 - 26/05

Ok so we´ve been in Mexico for 5 days now and no one has been sat under a tree in a sombrero and I havn´t passed out through too much tequila........

I´m not sure if these are good facts or not, make your own mind up! We arrived in Mexico City airport at the ungodly hour of 4.30am following an unsurprising flight of me tossing and turning withing for sleep to no avail. A stroke of good luck though, we (ok I ) didn´t account for the time difference between there and Canada so it was actually 6.30am - It just meant that the City was actually awake and the undesirables who would have undoubtably have robbed us were hiding away wherever these people go in daylight hours.

So we headed to our Hostel that we booked online from Canada - gotta love the internet! There is a cool underground system in Mexico City that costs 2pesos to go anywhere ( 10pence)

Spent 2 days in the city, the first in a big park, checkin out some stalls and went for a peddle boat ride on the lake, then the second day we headed to a place called Zocalo which is like a big town square. There were lots of folk dressed in foreign clothes dancing - I´ve been told there may be more of this as we travel in different countries - funny that eh?

So yeah, our ongoing thirst to see new and exciting things (which includes foreign folk doing foreign things like dancing) was quenched.

We were interviewed by some children who wanted to practice English, they had some iteresting questions for us such as

"Do you have Urban gangs in your country?" -

to which I replied

"We have hoodies??"

And also

"Are you a part of the Hippie Movement?" Needless to say I think they were a little behind the times, or else the funky smell we have started to give off from the hot wether has made us resemble the great unwashed longhairs of the 60´s??

Anyway - We need to be on a beach. One flight to the beach please.

That is we fly to Cancun (the 2 hr flight is better than 28hrs on a bus and cost about a tenner more) and hop on a bus to Tulum - Beach life baby!!
